· The Body Genius Way
Our Story
At The Body Genius, our work has been shaped by personal experience, years of training, and a shared commitment to helping people reconnect with their bodies. What began as individual paths in movement and wellness grew into a shared vision: creating a space where people can build strength, confidence, and balance at every stage of life.

Our Journey
The Body Genius wasn't built overnight.
It was shaped by decades of learning, movement, challenge, resilience, and a growing belief that wellbeing should never be confined to a single approach.
Brad's Foundation
For more than 25 years, Brad has dedicated his life to understanding movement and human performance. His journey has taken him through Karate, Pilates, psychology, rehabilitation, sports massage, holistic massage, and dry needling.
Yet movement was never simply about fitness.
Long before The Body Genius existed, Brad discovered that exercise helped him manage anxiety and maintain balance. Karate, in particular, became far more than a sport. It became a lifelong anchor that provided focus, discipline, confidence, and stability through life's challenges.
Over the years, he often said that Karate had saved his life.
At the time, Gala understood the words, but not yet the experience behind them.
A New Direction
Gala's path looked very different.
After spending more than a decade as a hairdresser, she experienced firsthand the physical strain that repetitive movement and long hours on her feet can place on the body.
When instructors who had previously worked alongside Brad emigrated, he suddenly found himself carrying the responsibility of the business alone. Wanting to help, Gala stepped forward and began studying Pilates.
What started as support quickly became a passion.
Pilates opened the door to a deeper understanding of movement, wellbeing, and the body's incredible ability to adapt and heal. Over time she returned to Karate, began studying Yoga, and developed a growing fascination with how different movement practices could complement one another.
At the same time, she began studying marketing and business. The more she learned, the more she realised that although the studio had loyal clients and years of expertise behind it, the brand no longer reflected its true potential.
When Life Changed
Then life changed in a way neither of them could have anticipated.
The loss of their daughter brought a level of grief that words can never fully capture.
Like many parents facing unimaginable loss, they experienced that grief differently.
Gala became withdrawn, exhausted, and struggled to find motivation. The future felt uncertain and even simple tasks often felt overwhelming.
Brad rarely spoke about his emotions, yet grief affected him deeply as well. Despite carrying that weight, he continued showing up for his clients each day, helping others while navigating his own pain.
He trained. He taught. He kept moving forward.
What Movement Taught Us
Slowly, movement found its way back into everyday life.
For Gala, it began with a little Pilates in the mornings. Then Karate returned. Yoga followed. Small steps gradually became a routine.
Strength returned. Focus returned. Calm returned.
Looking back, Gala finally understood what Brad had meant all those years when he said that Karate had saved his life.
In different ways, movement had become a lifeline for them both.
Through this experience they discovered something profound: no single modality holds all the answers.
Pilates offered strength and body awareness. Karate cultivated confidence and focus. Yoga created space for stillness and reflection. Rehabilitation restored function. Massage encouraged recovery and release.
Each offered something unique, yet together they formed a far more complete picture of wellbeing.
They also discovered that healing extends beyond movement alone.
Meaningful conversations, education, creativity, community, reflection, and emotional support all play an important role in helping people navigate life's challenges.
The Birth of The Body Genius
These experiences became the foundation of a new vision.
Rather than offering isolated services, Brad and Gala began building something that reflected how they had personally experienced growth, healing, and resilience.
The Body Genius was born from the belief that every person is different, and that different tools are needed at different stages of life.
Whether through Pilates, Yoga, Karate, rehabilitation, massage, or a combination of approaches, the goal remains the same: helping people move better, feel stronger, and reconnect with themselves.
Looking Forward
The Body Genius continues to evolve.
While movement remains at the heart of everything they do, their vision extends beyond exercise alone.
They hope to create experiences that combine movement with education, creativity, connection, and personal growth.
Future plans include wellness workshops, guest speakers, guided discussions, and opportunities for people to explore the many pathways that contribute to long-term wellbeing.
Because wellness is not simply about how we move.
It is about how we live.
After years of quietly building, learning, and refining their vision, Brad and Gala are ready to share The Body Genius with the wider community.
What We Believe
Our experiences have taught us that wellbeing is not achieved through a single method, a quick fix, or a one-size-fits-all solution.
Different stages of life call for different tools.
Sometimes we need strength. Sometimes we need stillness. Sometimes we need rehabilitation, confidence, mobility, support, or simply space to breathe.
That is why we embrace a variety of movement practices and wellness approaches, allowing each person to discover what works best for them.
We believe movement is one of the most powerful tools available to us—not only for physical health, but for building resilience, confidence, clarity, and connection.
Our role is not to tell you which path to follow.
Our role is to help you discover your own.
